Mrs. April Emery is a local author and popular science presentation professional with over 10 years of experience conducting in-school field trips for Union County and Mecklenburg counties. She has 3 daughters, 2 of whom needed extra support academically. Their needs set her on an educator path to create curriculums that would transcend the challenges of ADHD and SPD. Over the years, she has tutored children with autism, dyslexia, and dyscalculia.

Her educational passions include taking groups of all ages on hikes for Water and Forest Ecology lectures, doing Prevention Education for at-risk youth groups, presiding over a local Stargazing club, and coordinating summer science workshops. For several years, she was an exotic rehab specialist and has extensive travel experience that she paired as an opportunity to learn more about the ecological challenges those exotics came from. That experience was then tied to her presentations on Zoology, Junior Zookeepers, and Ecological Science.

She comes to us with boundless energy and enthusiasm and is a professional member of the following organizations:
(National Science Teacher Association) NSTA, (North Carolina Science Teacher Association) NCSTA, (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) AIAA, (Consortium for Mathmatics and its Applications) COMAD.
